Caitlyn Williams was born December 31, 1992, in Walthamstow, Massachusetts, and grew up in a small school, attending the University of Connecticut, where her mom worked as a cook and later as a principal where she earned a Ph.D. as an adjunct professor of anthropology. In 1982, Williams enrolled at Yale University with honors, where she worked with students in the area of food and agriculture and then later joined the faculty of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Environmental Science Center. Before moving to L.A., she served as executive director of the Environmental Health Foundation of Greater New York.
Born and raised in L.A., Williams spoke fluent Portuguese, was raised French and read English.
In 2000, Williams was married to former Marine Corps Ranger and state Senator David K. Schreiber, and she announced she was expecting their fifth child on Aug. 16. In 2005, she became a lobbyist for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees union, becoming the third woman on the job. In 2006, Williams sold her New York house to buy the residence with $40 million in private equity. Williams had been pursuing a position of public officials in the state with the New York Department of Energy, but the company did not receive a contract the next day, according to the Wall Street Journal.
